The amplifier like all of our redesigns is overhauled to an extreme extent. We repopulate the remaining portions of the amplifier that remain PCB. All of the work is done by hand and each amplifier is hand fitted to achieve the outstanding results that you're after.

The tone is  what you would achieve out of an early British style amplifier but with better low end and dynamics, plus you don't have to be as loud and drag around a 412 cabinet to get it.

The amp uses 3 12AX7 preamp tubes and the house favorite, the JJ 6V6. These output tubes are absolutely superb at ringing the bell of the EL34 but at a more usable volume. It's all in how you configure your output section.

We always adapt and improve upon anything we can, and this amplifier is no exception. The one extra neat capability is, we maintain the on board reverb feature of the original amp. Amps from yesteryear, who approximated the tonal qualities of the Turncoat, did not offer reverb. Our amplifier does and it sounds great with MOD tanks we use. 

We start at the input jack and move all the way to the end of the line with a new 12 inch American made WGS Veteran 30 speaker.

The input jack is an all metal, switch craft part that is is hard wired right to the first preamp stage with shielded wire, to help maintain the very low noise floor we strive for. The front end of the amp, the preamplifier, is tuned for tone that is hard to get. All of the vital, tone dependent and operationally Superior parts are picked out for a reason. Tone and an amp that works when you need it. Always.

In our redesign as we call it, we upgrade everything critical to signal generation and performance. Plate loads, cathode resistors, grid leak resistors, coupling caps, film bypass caps for low noise. A bigger and better power supply network. We do what it takes to make an amp run past the herd. There is allot of science that goes into what we produce and sell from ChromeDomeAudio. We upgrade the output transformer to a kick but high Fidelity, American made output box and chose it for a reason way back when designing the Tone Philosopher. It simply sounds great and you can't destroy it.

Most of the redesign is hand wired into the amplifier chassis. We maintain the use of the main PCB because after we upgrade all of the parts that need to be awesome, you ultimately end up with a more reliable amplifier. The space shuttle's didn't orbit the earth with completely hand wired assemblies....
