We're making an amplifier dedicated to amplified Harmonica!
Introducing:
The MISSISSIPPI SAX MACHINE
This beautiful harp amp is built with the same attention to detail and receives the same high-end components that Tone Philosophers receive making the Mississippi Sax Machine the best amp for harpists.
The Mississippi Sax Machine is a purpose built device for Harmonica players. The foundation is our existing TP-20, which is great for harp on its own, but the Mississippi Sax Machine has versatility and an ability to control voltage gain from stage to stage while being able to tweak the tonal response of harmonica entering through a 1/4" mic.
Just as the Tone Philosopher amps bring untouchable versatility, build quality, and dripping tone for guitar players - the Mississippi Sax Machine brings tonal and studio-filling bliss to the Harp world.
How she works...
The "MSM" offers the same idea in tone shaping and gain staging flexibility as the guitar amps. You can dial in the right amount of front end from your microphone, the right amount of edge and grit from the preamp and 6V6 based power amp.
You can center the low end response and shape the level of low end and low mids. The mid-mid range and high end of the band are adjustable with the same "T-cap" switch and the "-FB" switch, as seen on the Guitar amps.
The "T-cap" switch on the Mississippi Sax Machine however is quite different. In the down position, the treble cap is a "normal" value of 500pf. Toggle the switch up and you in effect have a "Shift" switch, it bumps the upper mids up as a boost without the high end getting brittle. A must for a mic'd up Harp.
All of the ideas and functions of the guitar amps are in there, but they act and offer allot more when it comes to microphone response vs. guitar.
The Build...
They are built on the same chassis, and use the same 1x12 combo enclosure. So naturally they look the same. The difference is in the circuit design.
We brought back a favorite, the Jensen 12-70 British inspired driver for this one. This speaker offers a number of things. It's actually quite neutral, so you hear what the amp is doing, and it does allot. Speaker cone break up weighs in once the amp is really singing. It also doesn't weight 14 pounds. So your Harp amp only weighs 34 pounds
The MSM uses the same awesome American made transformers as the TP-20, and is still very hand wired.
A 20 watt, purpose built hand made Harp Amp for for the same great price of our 20 watt made for guitar, Tone Philosopher 20
$1,049.00
All Tone Philosopher amplifiers are covered under a 3 year limited warranty.
We warrant the function of the amplifiers for 3 years. Vacuum tubes carry a 90 day warranty.
Loudspeakers/Guitar drivers are covered under the OEM warranty. (1 Yr. WGS, 4 Yrs. Jensen)
We have gone to great lengths to over-engineer all of our amplifiers, and out build all others. They are built right and built with pride.
